We look forward to welcoming you to the next Leaders Connect event to hear from:

Noha Al Afifi Interim CEO at Arthritis Action

Helen Robson Founder of The Bloom Project

Ruth Seymour Nutritional Therapist at Root & Renew

These three exceptional leaders will share their expertise in maximising your impact as a leader, Sustainable impact for your charity AND your health, and returning to work post-maternity.

In this session Noha will highlight the importance of building empathy and emotional intelligence, influencing and the role of confidence, leading with creativity and innovation, setting clear objectives and determining ROI and looking after yourself: maintaining a healthy mind and body.

The privilege of leading a charity can come with unique challenges to our own health. The motivation to help our beneficiaries as much as possible can be to the detriment of our own well-being. Ruth will share her top tips on managing your inputs to deliver maximum output for your most important beneficiary – your health.

Helen’s mission is to equip people in all organisations with the knowledge, enabling more awareness and empathy when faced with the impact and effects of pregnancy and returning to work post-maternity.

Come along to hear first-hand from these three inspirational leaders, on how you can maximise your impact as a purpose-driven leader.

Guest Speakers

Noha Al Afifi

Noha is the Interim Chief Executive of the charity Arthritis Action. She has over 18 years’ experience in marketing, communications and fundraising, including in senior leadership positions.

She has worked across various sectors, including telecommunications, higher education, healthcare and the third sector, both in the UK and internationally.

Noha is a Trustee of National Voices and a Board member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR).

She has been named in PRWeek UK’s Power Book 2021-23, which recognises the top communications professionals in the country.

Noha has a real passion for nurturing teams and promoting better equality, diversity and inclusion practices across organisations.

Ruth Seymour

Ruth is the founder of Root & Renew Nutritional Therapy which uses individualised nutrition support to get to the root causes of physical and mental health challenges and help people feel well.

Ruth has also spent 20 years in the charity sector, mainly in senior leadership roles across fundraising and marketing, and now works freelance alongside her nutrition practice. As a former Board Director leading a team of 60 and with responsibility for £15m income, Ruth is very familiar with the feelings of overwhelm, stress and exhaustion that can sometimes hamper our short-term performance as leaders and, crucially, our long-term health.

Ruth is now using both her charity career experience and nutrition knowledge to support people working in the charity sector to focus on their own wellbeing alongside growing impact for their organisation.

Helen Robson

Helen is a Leadership Consultant, Insights Practitioner, and Founder of the Bloom Project, with over 20 years of experience in recruitment, training and leadership development.

She is passionate about ensuring there is access to expert information and support for organisations on pregnancy and returning to work post-maternity.

The Bloom Project works with maternity returners, teams, people managers, leaders, and whole organisations.

Returning to work can be an amazing time. It can also be traumatic. The Bloom Project equips people in organisations with knowledge, enabling more awareness and empathy when faced with the impact and effects of pregnancy and returning to work post-maternity.

We thank all of our speakers for giving their time for free and helping to make the event accessible to all.

There was such a wonderful relaxed tone for the Leaders Connect event, creating a really welcoming and connecting atmosphere. This enabled effortless networking. I met lots of interesting people, two of which I have contacted since. The speaker was of such a high calibre, and coupled with a nice lunch, I couldn’t recommend this event highly enough.

Lizzie Briggs

Director of Development

It is really hard to find good and relevant networking events outside of London that are pitched at the right level. Leaders Connect is just right. The opportunity to connect with other leaders, from different types of organisations, is really beneficial. It can be lonely when you head up a small organisation, so the chance to share challenges and explore new ideas is really important.
